What happens when everyone in an organization feels responsible for more than their own job description?
Felag is an old Nordic concept for the community where people share responsibility, resources and risk – and where everyone is necessary for the whole to function.
This workshop translates the thinking into a modern work culture.
Participants work with concrete situations from everyday life and experience how an organization becomes stronger when people help each other, share knowledge and take responsibility – even when the problem actually lies outside of one’s own job area.
A central element is the Five-meter Director: All employees are directors within a radius of five meters. If you see a problem, you have both the right and the duty to do something about it. You don’t have to wait for a boss, a procedure or the “right” department.
It’s not about everyone deciding everything. It’s about everyone feeling that what happens around them is also their responsibility and merit.
At the same time, the workshop challenges traditional hierarchies. The person closest to a problem often has the best knowledge of the solution – regardless of title. That is why Felag is based on equality, mutual respect and trust rather than status.
Through exercises, scenarios and joint reflection, we examine, among other things:
Felag is not about everyone doing the same thing.
It is about everyone taking responsibility for everything to work.
A workshop for organizations that want less “it’s not my responsibility” – and more “we can do it.”
